Andre Sollier said in his book Introduction to Sumi-e The Way of the Zen Brush in 1972 “Sumi-e is a philosophy, a way of life and a technique of painting…developed to perfection as a Zen discipline.” I will use this book for quotes quite often as it is a near perfect description and explanation of this art. How do we do this as artists?
